In 2014, PDH commissioned a major new aqueous-based spray drying operation. This major investment is a state-of-art, high volume spray drying operation with a fully automated CIP (Clean-In-Place) system. The spray dryer is validated to comply with US FDA 21 CFR 210.211 & EU Drug Certification standards.
Advantages of Spray Drying:
Choose between wide variety of polymers and adjuvants
Processing is performed at relatively low temperatures
Improves solubility and bioavailability of API’s
Works well with temperature sensitive compounds
Ability to control critical powder physical characteristics, including:
Improved particle size consistency
PDH’s R&D Group has small scale equipment to quickly assess custom product or material requests. The minimum batch amount required for R&D purposes is approximately 5 kg. This amount is needed to allow the PDH R&D team to compile data on the proposed material, including the characterization of slurry/dispersion preparation methods, as well as the characterization of particle size and morphology.
